My name is Marissa. My whole life, my dream has been to see the world. And I've been able to get out there and see some of it so far. But over the past few years, as I worked at my 9-5 job, I've always felt like taking a few small trips every year just wasn't enough.

Most of what I saw of people who have a digital nomad lifestyle made their money through photography, graphic design, or writing. I thought about trying to grow skills in that area and see if I could make that work. But I knew it wouldn't, because the job I had as a Quantitative Analyst was and is something I'm very passionate about. I like working with data and analyzing it, and I loved programming and automating things. So I still wanted to be able to have a job where I could do those things.

Living in Hawaii definitely has it's perks, but it's pretty expensive in time and money to actually travel anywhere. So I thought that maybe if I just moved somewhere else, I could use weekends to explore around neighboring areas. So I started to look for jobs elsewhere. But as I searched and interviewed, I realized that wasn't what I really wanted. I wanted a job where I could program still and I wanted to be able to experience different cultures as I did my work. I started to think, why can't I have both?

So here I am. Check out my blog to hear my stories from traveling, my tips about coding, and my thoughts on anything and everything. And if you'd like to check out some of the programming work I do, please check out my portfolio. And if you want more information about the work I do, please feel free to send me message through the contact me page!

Thanks for joining me while I'm coding my way around the world! :)
